Background Info

Talleyrand Park is a quaint little park nesstled next to Spring Creek in the heart of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. Bellefonte has a rich history where and the town itself is like traveling back in time. A large steel factory that supplied Pittsburgh's steel supply was the attraction to the area. Today you can still find large, well-kept Victorian style houses that the high class businessmen lived in during that time of the steel factory.

Today, Talleyrand Park is located next to one of these old factories along with the old railroad stop which is still in tact. My project wanted to take the historic features and combine them with the preservation of the stream's edge.

Currently the streams edge is eroding away due to the lack of infrastructure along it.  Adding trees and their root systems and larger rocks will preserve the streams edge and stop the eroding. These features also benefit the local trout population by providing them features typically found in their ecosystems.

A small dam still stand where they ran water away from the original stream to power the factory. The water wheel that provided the power is not there anymore. However, bringing the water wheel back will finish the historic aspect of the park and highlighting where the water ran to power this water wheel.
